Everyone who is dancing

Image
Everyone who is dancing is beautiful... It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. You will need to make healthier decisions. It requires sacrifice. You will need to push your body to its max. There will be temptations. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, its worth it. We all know this...right? But I think one more thing which is missing here is Motivation....It will require endless Motivation...Yes, a dancer needs motivation constantly by educators, family, Gurus etc...most importantly from self. Self-motivation can lead to achieving higher goals and we all must keep it ON. And I feel that the level of perfection should not be judged through the score of any exams or on the performance of a show ...Because dance is the inner voice of the soul and when anybody is dancing he or she is trying to express it through the bodily movements...One needs to understand what the dancer is trying to tell you...its beyond th...

Opportunities

Image
Opportunities, the horizon of the new morning... Right from the day we start learning our first steps, each one of us dreams about that time or set of circumstances that will make it possible which we will call as "The day...", the day when we will step on the stage to give our best performance and experience lots of love & appreciation from all those who are watching us. Its a kind of heavenly experience I will say. I still remember the loud applause after the concluding number on my Arangetram day, I can never forget that feeling...I was unable to see any face but those stars which were blinking in front of my eyes simply were showering the feeling of confidence on me which will remain within me till my last breath. I am always thankful to all those who gave me this first opportunity. Every opportunity plays a very important role in our life. It teaches us a lot. Sometimes we keep waiting for the right one to come and sometimes it enters very unexpectedly in ou...

Practice like you have never won...

Practice sessions.... Truly memorable for everyone...right? the grilling period which is full of enjoyment, enthusiasm, excitement, full of sweating and pain till the golden shining level is reached...but still much more memorable.... The efforts to wind up all the other commitments to reach on time, the efforts to achieve perfection, efforts to gain stamina, to give that exact expression required for the role even when you are tired a lot... and on top of all is controlling your cravings and eat healthy, taking care of health, managing previous injuries... It's like talking to your body and soul to get ready ...... Hard practice sessions mould us physically and mentally, not only for the performance planned but for that disciplined way of life and ask our soul to follow it for a lifetime. Asks to cut down the forest of cravings like Buddha and nurture our mind and body for a healthy & peaceful life. Yes, this is what practice sessions mean to me, what about you...

Dedication...What does this mean?

Image
Dedication   What do you mean by this? committed to a task or purpose, the willingness to give a lot of time and energy to something because it is important.   Dedication can also be defined as complete devotion and faith in someone or something, like your dedication to your family,  for example , then what about the dedication in dance means to you? Can you be dedicated to both at the same time? How? If you are trying to balance your family, your career and your passion and love for dance, does that mean your dedication towards dance is less? Well, trying to improve your fitness level both at physically and mentally to keep a good balance between your dance and other commitments in life should be equally treated as a strong dedication  towards dance as well as family, careers etc . Because the motivation to balance hard dance practice sessions, the workload in office and handling difficult times with kids and family comes nowhere but from the joy, we get f...

What Dance gave me?

Image
What Dance gave me? Well, this is the question which every dancer should ask herself/ himself one day…I am sure first of all it will definitely give a smile on his/ her face no doubt :) Dance has given immense happiness to each and every person who has tried attempting to stamp his or her feet on any beat. Irrespective of the form, dance teaches us a lot of things. Right from learning basic steps until when you reach an advanced stage. The very first lesson dance taught me is discipline, not only about how to behave after entering in dance class till you leave but also about how to respect our tradition, our culture, our elders and most importantly our Gurus which will stay lifelong with me. Nowadays, respect for our elders, teachers/ Gurus is rare, its very sad, but I have observed it in many places, in younger generations especially. Here I feel, the role and attitude of parents play a very important role. Dance also teaches us how different emotions have an effect ...

And The Blooming Began....

Image
As all Bharatnatyam dancers know the meaning of ' Alara ' ...meaning to bloom, I too started blooming from the very first day I joined the training. Starting with all the energy, enthusiasm and spirit the learning experience began...  The eager and curiosity about learning new steps was the key driving force to move on. The beauty and love for Bharatnatyam were attracting me more and more towards itself. The anxiety to learn all the basic steps i.e.  Adavus  was high. The stamina sometimes was not enough to cope up but the mind was not ready to stop. The days passed and we were done with our Adavus.....What a great feeling it was...the feeling of achieving something...that time that "something" was much more to me...But as I move forward I realized it was just a drop in the ocean of knowledge...but how sweet it really was! The Adavus, the initial lessons in Bharatnatyam not only teaches us the basic steps but much more than that. It teaches us a basic disc...
